Free School Meals and other Benefits
Universal Free School Meals for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 Children
Every pupil in reception, year 1 and 2 is eligible for universal free school meals.
We believe that the school lunchtime is a great opportunity for all our children to sit down together and enjoy their healthy and tasty meal, while developing their social skills. We therefore hope that all parents will take up this offer of a free school meal for our infant pupils.

Are you eligible for Free School Meals?
If you receive one of the following benefits then your children may be entitled to free school meals.
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Income-based Job Seekers Allowance
- Income Support
- Child Tax Credit and a household income below £16,190, and not receiving Working Tax Credit
- Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- Guarantee Element of State Pension Credit
You may also be entitled if you have just started to work less than 16 hours a week, or immediately after
employment has ceased for a temporary four week ‘run-on’ period only.
We ask that you complete the City of York Council Free School Meals link found below and return it as soon as possible. This is important so that we can continue to register pupils who attract pupil premium, which is worth £1,345 a year per pupil for our school. If you have any questions, please contact us on 01904 554490 or call in to the school office.
If you are eligible for Free School Meals, it may be that your child will still prefer to bring a packed lunch on some
days, or even every day, but as registering for free school meals also brings extra funding to our school to spend
in the classrooms, we are keen to encourage as many parents as possible to register.
Applications and further information can be found on the City of York Council Website at:

I hope you will take advantage of this opportunity for your child to enjoy a healthy, balanced and nutritious meal every day.
